For me, filmmaking is unlike anything else. Yes, you can tell a story with words, photos, or even gestures, but for me it's only film that is capable of instantly capturing someone's attention, of telling a story about a place like you're right there in the midst of it. The atmospheres film lets you (re)create with moving images, light, sound and music can only be created with film. Letting the viewer sence how your subject feels, how overwhelming nature's beauty can be, or how incredibly hard it is to perform at sports on the worlds highest level, that to me is why I love to tell stories through film.
To see the start of a new day from a high, quiet place is true beauty. No noise or distractions, just a new start in it's purest form.
To me, an athlete's performance in competition is the greatest state a human can be in. Pure energy and dedication you can't look away from.
Meeting new people
Everyone has a unique life, and a unique story, which is a great help for me to come up with fresh ideas and new storytelling techniques.
