Filmmaker Statement
When I concept a shot to shoot I see a vision and that vision is sometimes scary. Why? Because sometimes that shot requires me to get out of my comfort zone. I may have to talk to complete strangers or point the camera at myself. In general it requires me to be up front and do what needs to be done. For me that's hard and I struggle with it. But I don't give up. The thing is, I don't think filmmaking should ever be easy or comfortable. It constantly challenges you and asks whether you really want to go the extra mile. It tests your character, your values and morals. Filmmaking is my lifelong companion. That's why I persevere and strive to achieve that vision and keep making films.

Inspired By
Community of visions
Seeing how other filmmakers view the world always fascinates and challenges me. I often wonder how I see the world affects others.
An Asian Lens
Being Malaysian Chinese and born in New Zealand, I want to prove that my stories are worth telling from my own cultural human point of view.
Must vs Should
I should make a suitable living, invest in a home, settle down. I must continue what I love to do: explore, film and tell that story.
